ok so I don’t really do this kind of thing but here goes.<\/p>\n

my best friend of 14 years just… stopped. no fight. no blowup. she just slowly pulled away and one day I realized we hadn’t talked in two months and she didn’t care.<\/p>\n

people don’t really talk about friend breakups. when it’s a relationship everyone gets it \u2014 sad playlists, “you deserve better” texts. but when your best friend ghosts you? people just shrug. “people grow apart.” cool thanks that doesn’t make it hurt less.<\/p>\n

she was the person I called first for everything. got the job? call her. bad date? call her. she was my person. not in a romantic way but in the way where she knew every version of me and chose to stay. until she didn’t.<\/p>\n

I spent months replaying conversations in my head looking for clues. I even typed out a long message asking what happened. never sent it. still sitting in my drafts.<\/p>\n

I don’t really know when it started getting easier. I think I just got tired of being sad about someone who wasn’t sad about me. I started hanging out with a coworker and turns out she’s hilarious. we’re not best friends yet but I laughed so hard at pottery class last week I almost knocked my bowl off the wheel.<\/p>\n

I’m not gonna pretend I’m totally fine. but I’m getting there.<\/p>\n

if you’re going through something like this just know you’re not dramatic for being hurt. losing a friend is real grief and nobody talks about it enough.<\/p>\n

that’s it. that’s my story.<\/p>\n
